MAIL ART

What is Mail Art?

Mail Art is an art movement and a form of art which uses the mail system (yes, the traditional snail mail) as medium.

Created by Ray Johnson in the 60s, in New York, it became a worldwide movement with thousands of artists exchanging art between them.

Mail Art is non commercial. Initially it tried to avoid the institutional system, but eventually it ended in galleries around the world. There are exhibitions, shows, performances, etc. Many movements also became part of Mail Art, mainly Fluxus and Dada.

I've been doing Mail Art for 16 years and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. I have tons of correspondents from around the globe and along the years I have participated in exhibitions and very interesting collaborative projects.

Mail Art is freedom. Basically we can do whatever we want artistically and send it through the mail.
